Author Bio
(Jeanette Davis)

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Morgan State University where I also worked as Music Director and On-Air announcer for radio station WEAA.

I am an honorably discharged veteran (six years) of the U.S. Army.

My play, “Grandma Loved Roses”, won Baltimore’s WMAR-TV’s (channel 2) Drama Competition for Black Writers, and was televised in 1985.

I appeared on “Geraldo”, “Rolonda” (twice), and various other television talk shows for promotion of my first book; “Black Survival in White America: From Past History to the Next Century”.   I was also a guest on multiple radio shows throughout the country and lectured in many venues (bookstores, churches, private organizations, universities, benefits, etc.) I am  presently retired from the State of New Jersey and available for book promotion activities.

My book, “The Great Divide Between Blacks & Whites” was published January 2009.    It is available on:   http://www.Amazon.com

My Memoir "Black, Just Like My Mama" was released on: January 1, 2010.

Being a native New Yorker, I am amazed at the number of Northerners that live in Georgia.  It brings joy to my heart to know that I am not alone in this town and that there are people here who understand where I am coming from on so many levels.  I have met so many people from all parts of the country until I almost feel as though I am still in the military.

Always working, either thinking or doing

A writer writes about what they see and feel around them.

A good writer writes in depth about the same things.

A great writer has a global perspective, tests the pulse of the planet, makes a diagnosis and writes a prescription.

Writing Is My Bliss

There is no greater satisfaction for a writer than for someone to be inspired to do great things because of something they read in the writer's book.  That is why non-fiction is such a joy for me to undertake.  Real life issues are more challenging than simply using my imagination to create situations and scenarios.  Real life is strange, chaotic, confusing, and traumatic enough without creating antagonistic issues for protagonists to resolve.  We meet enough of both characters in reality throughout our lifetimes.

The election of a black man to the Oval Office is such a delight that I can hardly restrain myself.   After so many years, from slavery to the present, of our people's dire struggles, it is an emotionally draining event.  Our very souls are transformed.  Our hearts are quickened, our bodies weak from standing on the precipice of a brand new day, and our minds flooded with new vistas opening for our children because a black man has reached the highest office in the land.

"Father GOD reached down into Mother Africa and paired a man of her soil with a woman from Kansas to birth into being a son with the mixture of both continents to unite his children in America."*

*(exerpt from "The Great Divide Between Blacks & Whites"- my book that was released Jan. 09'.)

President Elect Obama realized his greatest achievement along with his greatest grief (his grandmother's death).  Our prayers will hold him steady, for Father GOD makes no mistakes.  The balancing of these two extremes at that time in his life was no accident.  May GOD bless his family and us all.

Our minds are the battlegrounds of life.  It is there where we first succeed or fail. It is there where choices are made.  It is there where we accept, refuse, allow our bodies to submit or not, and only there can we transform our minds and thus create our futures. IT IS THERE where we allow GOD or satan to reign in our lives. Looking deep into our spirits will enable us to see beyond the darkness into the light.

The gift of an education is an opportunity to define, refine and design
your life in a way that can propel you to heights those without it
cannot conceive in their imaginations. You are the sculptor and creator
of your future and destiny. Don't take it lightly.

Talent is the gift plus the passion---a desire to succeed so intense that no force on earth can stop it. (Neil Simon)

LOVE

GOD is love.  There would be no confusion if we put Him first and avoid the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life.  In doing so we gently cast ourselves into the glow of true love with people whom we are equally yoked.  The mistake most of us make is in letting ourselves be controlled by the above lusts thus catapulting us into heartache after heartache.  We all make those mistakes at sometime in our lives.  Once we truly understand love, there is no need to explain or justify it.  All we need do is explore and bask in it spiritually, emotionally, mentally and last but not least, physically.  The physical is the icing on the cake not the introduction.

(Jeanette Davis)

Spiritual growth is the prime reason for human existence.  GOD spoke and we are, we speak and we create who we hope to become, what our lives are to be and the circumstances of how we wish to live. When we realize that each of us  is pure essence within, we grow and glow outwardly.  Why do we seek anything outside of ourselves when what is within holds all we wish and need to know?  GOD gave us the answer to everything we need to make life as we want it to be.

"A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.  Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

Proverbs 18:20-21

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

John 6:63

Let us speak only positivity for ourselves and others and in time we will see the fruition of all that we spoke.  Let's do it GOD's way.
